A male impala hides in tall grass in the Botswana savannah

 

Not all impalas are that lucky.

Predators even devour most of their bones.

 

A male greater kudu:

A magnificent, graceful, large antelope.

 

A hippopotamus grazes in a bird-filled pasture.

 

A bloat of hippopotamuses.

(Also known as a pod, herd or dale of hippopotamuses.)

Leopards spend much of their time in trees,

where they can ambush and haul up their prey

to protect their prey and themselves from predators.

These leopards have captured and are devouring an adolescent giraffe.

This lioness has no intention of sharing her prey with the lion.
